About

Gabor Csonka

Endre Horváth prize-winning artist living in Hungary and working as a maths, IT and drawing teacher.

He was born on September 8, 1965, in Balassagyarmat.

His teachers at the Ifjúság street elementary school were Péter Lengyel and Zoltán Csemniczky, and his teacher was András Farkas at Balassi Bálint High School.

At the teacher training college in Eger (mathematics-drawing major), his teachers were János Dévényi, István Magyar, János Lóránt, Klára Oskóné Bódi and Ernő Nagy.

From the beginning to the present, he has been greatly influenced by his sister Erzsébet Csonka, who is currently the set and puppet designer of the Harlekin Puppet Theatre in Eger.

From 1989 to 2011, he taught at the primary school in Cserhátsurány, whilst also drawing and painting.

His favourite techniques include ceramics, oil, watercolour, and chalk.

In 1997, he obtained a computer science teacher’s degree at ELTE. Since 2011, he has been working at the Szent Imre Catholic Primary and High School in Balassagyarmat, where he teaches computer science for the most hours.

After almost ten years, he is now able to make time for his own creations again. His son recently moved to England, and he encouraged him to publish his works in this way.
